The 3rd Annual What to Get Someone Who Has Everything Guide

December 16, 2009 by Admin

Well it’s that time of year again – Christmas. What to buy for that person who simply has everything they need. This is our 3rd annual ‘What to get someone who has everything guide’. It constantly amazes me just how many weird and wacky gifts there are out there. Take this Bacon Wallet for instance – I’m not sure whether to throw up or go raid the fridge. Does bring to life the old saying ‘bringing home the bacon’ though.

I really dig this idea – an inflatable Fruitcake. It appeals to my non-baking side. It looks very realistic so perhaps I could pass it off as the real thing. I also like the low-fat nature of this gift – it obviously doesn’t have as many calories as the real thing. Somehow though I think the plastically flavour might not be that popular. Just a question – who would ever, ever come up with this idea? Me thinks perhaps alcohol was involved.

This invention sits somewhere between genius and absurdity. The Beer Holster is perfect for those out there who wish they were cowboys or have their hands full grilling or something. Beware, as the comments from previous buyers indicate, the wearer needs to own a belt – otherwise it’s pretty much useless.

The jury’s out on this one – although they are totally weird I really want a pair. With these Heatable Slippies you can ’say bye to cold in 90 seconds’. I’m not sure about you, but I kind of have a thing about putting my shoes in the same appliance I cook my food with.

Have a kid who’s got everything already? Why not get them a Swine Flu toy to play with, or how about some rabies, or mad cow disease. These Giantmicrobes are designed to look just like the real thing – good thing they’re not contagious.

Finally, something for the feline member of your family. Concerned that their a little bit bored, perhaps not watching enough television? Then Ambient Kittens will just knock their cotton socks right off.  This DVD is 63 minutes long and features cats eating, sleeping and doing all the sorts things cats do. Rivoting. What I love is the ability to loop  the DVD so that it can play endlessly.

Check out the trailor above. Now before you get too carried away there’s a Ambient Puppies DVD too.

Well that’s all for another year. We hope you liked it. If so, please tell your friends :)

OMG its almost Christmas

December 16, 2009 by Admin

Is it just me or has Christmas arrived too quickly this year? I thought I’d have heaps of time to to prepare but now here I am with just over a week to go. Christmas is an exciting time in our family with one of the most exciting activities being the putting up of the Christmas tree. Each year since the kids were born we buy them each a new ornament each year so that when their older and leave home they can take their ornaments with them. This is a great tradition and the kids love it when we put the tree up each year when they look through all of their own ornaments from years gone past. Christmas is a good time for thinking about the year that’s past. It’s made me realise that my children are growing up so fast – I want to bottle them and keep them the same age as they are now (my twins are 6 and my oldest daughter is 8). They are not little any more and they are less dependant on me – which is good in some ways.

This Monday’s orders (above)

It’s been a big year for us at Minifashionista. We’ve expanded our offerings and had lots of fun choosing new products we hope you like too. Next year will also bring new changes – which we know you will love too.

With the temperature almost 40 degrees here in SA today I was really appreciating the fact that I can buy Christmas presents for my own family and friends from Minifashionista. It is one of the perks of owning your own kids business. I really think that buying online is so convenient, especially in this heat. I also bought an engagement present for my brother and his new fiance online today – they’ll deliver it which is great as he lives in Sydney. They’ll even do the gift card message for me. So easy.

Fred Food Face – Make Faces at the Table

December 3, 2009 by Admin

Quite often at school pick up I’ll find myself comparing stories with other mums about getting our kids to eat! Some of us have kids who’ll only eat vegemite sandwiches or spagetti. Others have kids who won’t stop eating. The one thing we all  complain about is how hard it is to get our kids to eat their veggies.

The Food Face from US-based Fred & Friends is a great idea. Made from hotel-quality, heat resistant ceramic it features a cute face which can be decorated with different foods to create many different appearances.

The possibilities are really limited only by your imagination.

Each plate comes individually giftboxed, making it a brilliant gift idea. Retailing at Minifashionista for AUD $15.40, we think they make a great Christmas gift idea.

The Fred Food Face  recently sold out completely in the USA and Europe – we think they’ll be a big hit in Australia too.

Title: Ozzie
The Ozzie Tee is a must for any kooky little monster you’re associated with. Created by talented designer Travis

About Ozzie: Ozzie is a mischievous creature with the eating habits of a goat. He once ate a donkey and cart but later burped out the live donkey. A distant relative to the troll from ‘the three billy goats gruff’ Ozzie has been eating socks since the turn of the century. If you have an odd sock there’s every chance Ozzie ate the other one. Preferably unwashed.

Likes: Unrestricted walks on the beach & burping the alphabet.
Dislikes: Angry village folk & girly girls, tom boys are OK.
Quote: Sock it to me!

Title: Stan
Play hard or play at home. Stan’s for all those a little rough around the edges.

About Stan: Stan was abandoned at the 1969 woodstock festival. He soon found work as a roadie. Over the past 40 years he has been a roadie for such bands as “Mum’s & Roses” and “the Six Pistols”
He now resides in the Tee forest and has released numerous albums with his band “Stan and deliver”.

Likes: Drum solo’s
Dislikes: Amway and any other Pyramid schemes.
Quote: Turn down the bass!

New Beach and Swim Wear from Small Paul

November 22, 2009 by Admin

Small Paul Beachwear

In Adelaide, South Australia we have experienced some pretty hot weather lately (including a November heatwave and days as hot as 43 degrees celsius). People have been doing whatever they can to keep cool and swimming has been on the top of everyone’s list of activities. Beachwear and Swimwear just got that little bit cooler with Small Paul’s new range of clothing and accessories.

Bright and colourful and also hardwearing, kids will love donning their Small Paul gear for some fun in the sun! I especially like the Small Julius Unisex Rashie - as a mum I want to make sure they’re properly protected. They’re won’t be any complaints wearing this + UPF 50Rashie – that’s for sure.

We so love the ElfYourself videos - they are hilarious! They’re back again this year and this time we included our cat Marty. My son was asking me the other day could he watch last years again – so he’ll be so excited when he sees the new 2009 ones. You can see ours here
