Please accept my apologies for not posting for ages. It’s school holidays here and I’ve been trying to catch a moment to myself (not working real well). It’s been great to spend some quality time with the kids though. I also joined a book club, newly formed with a group of mums from school. Sadly I never take the time to read, whereas the other mums are very widely read. The good thing is that I haven’t even heard of the books on the list so it will be a wonderful literary adventure. Now to find the time to actually read. I’m off to Sydney in a few weeks with a good friend for a kid-free and hubby-free weekend. Really looking forward to seeing my brother and meeting his fiance.
At Minifashionista, we’re now stocking Anorak Magazine (Issue 5, ‘Birds’ is pictured above). Anorak is a magazine full of crazy and inspiring stuff for kids age 5-8, including stories, happy activities, book reviews and thought-provoking features. Featuring the work of leading contemporary illustrators and with lots of contributions from kids themselves, it is one of the coolest and brightest magazines around. At $12.50/issue is a great school holiday boredom buster. We’ve also started stocking the gorgeous Rosie Flo series of colouring in books for boys and girls. Happy Days!
We’ve got some exciting news coming up very soon. We thought we’ve give you a little hint above. Can you guess what’s happening? No – that’s ok, all will be revealed shortly. Stay tuned!

Recently I saw a story on Australia’s ‘A Current Affair’ show about Designer Tots. The story suggested that parents are deciding what clothing and accessories to buy for their children based on what they see Suri Cruise wearing. There’s no doubt that whatever Suri wears is big news. With a fashionista mum like Katie Holmes it’s no big surprise.
It was great to see her here in Australia recently wearing some fabulous Australia children’s designer labels, including our very own Polka Kids. As you know we’re total Minifashionista’s here and love all cool kids fashion – but we’re keen to know whether you’re kids fashion purchases are influenced by what Suri’s been wearing? Please take part in our poll.

The terribly groovy Fred Food Face Plates are back in stock. At just AUD $16.50 each these hotel quality ceramic plates make for a great gift, especially for children who are a bit fussy with their vegetables. We love ours at home and use them all the time. They always bring a smile and a chuckle to mealtimes.
You can find them here at Minifashionista.

Well it’s that time of year again, when the accountant says “You need to clear some stock before the end of the financial year”. So we’ve been busy with the virtual red pen reducing prices on lots of goodies. You can save up to 70% on a fabulous range of designer kids brands including Polka Kids, Chalk n Cheese, Munster, No Added Sugar, egg by Susan Lazar, Small Paul by Paul Frank and many more.
I know we’re not the only one’s holding end of financial year sales right now but we think ours is definitely worth checking out. For one you don’t need to rush out in the cold and wet weather, stressing out in the crowded car parks. For just AUD $8.50 you can have your purchases delivered express to your door (plus if you spend $150.00 or more we’ll even send it for free). Plus at Minifashionista you’ll find some totally hip and unique designer goodies at sensational prices (none of that cookie cutter stuff here).
Ready Set Go though – we all love a great sale, so it won’t last long!

Last week I wrote about how we had our cat Marty put down because he wasn’t recovering from an earlier road accident. Above is Miss 7’s interpretation of Marty in the ‘afterlife’ with our old Cat Linny who died 18 months ago. Both Marty and Linny were boys, but I love the way that Marty is wearing a tie and Linny is wearing a crown. Linny has also grown some extra dancing legs which is very cute.
Yesterday we received a condolence card from the vet surgery, with a gorgeous poem, reassuring us that we did the ‘right’ thing. I still feel guilty, but it really was the right thing for him.
Onwards and upwards.

What a week I am having – full of highs and lows (luckily more highs than lows). Do you just have those weeks where you don’t think it could get any busier or emotional? That’s the kind of week I am having.
Last Saturday we said goodbye to our cat Marty. He was hit by a car 4 weeks ago and received spinal damage. We hoped he would improve but he started to get worse and was experiencing discomfort and pain. It was an awful decision to make but the kids handled it better than I expected.
Mother’s Day was lovely. Blueberry pancakes, gorgeous handmade cards, a lovely brooch and bracelet, my favourite latte glasses from bodum, and a lovely family walk on the beach. Bliss.
We’ve had painters in this week to do the front and inside of the house. We are still house hunting so we’re trying to get our own house ready for sale. We’ve been waiting a few months for this painter to be free – but he did such a good job on our old house that we we’re prepared to wait until he was available. There’s still some more rooms to be done but I am so pleased with what has been done so far. We’re off to see another house this afternoon – hope it’s good. I must admit looking for a new house is a bit depressing sometimes – looks good on the internet then when you get there it’s not what you expected, or if it is good everyone else wants it and it ends up being too expensive!
Sale Time at Minifashionista
It’s also Sale time at Minifashionista. We’ve been doing a spring (or should that be Autumn) clean and we’ve found some great sample & seconds stock which we’ve reduced significantly, but stock is limited so you have be quick.
Tomorrow my twinnies turn 7. Can’t believe it – where did the past 7 years go? They are beautiful human beings and I am so proud of who they are growing into (as I am of my 9 year old daughter too). Celebrations will be a bit strange tomorrow as Master J has been invited to 2 back-to-back parties and Miss S has been invited to 1.
We’ll have their party next week-end. I wish I could chanel my talented friend Sharnel Dollar’s party planning skills, but unfortunately I’ll have to come up something quick and simple. I figure as long as there’s heaps of red cordial and lollies it should go ok.
Have a great weekend, Shannon
